The Robert Norris and Affiliated Families of Wilcox County and Selma, Alabama Welcome family and friends to Robert's Children, the website for and about the descendants of Robert Norris and affiliated families. The idea for such a website has been percolating for a number of years. At every family gathering, at every chance meeting of two or more cousins, aunts, grandchildren, there was always the promise, expressed and implied, to stay in touch. But, of course, the Norris Family with its many branches is so large that staying in touch was no easy task. The demands of our immediate families took precedence over the need to preserve the extended one. And with the passing each year of Robert's own offspring ~our beloved spouses, parents, aunts and uncles, grands and greats~ the glue that always bound this family was diluted. The Norris Family, with more than 150 living members and more than 50 different family names, can legitimately lay claim to being called a clan. The youngest members are the seventh generation (actually there may be some eighth-generation Norrises that I don't yet know about).
While distance, lifestyles and sheer size no longer allow the access to one another that we once enjoyed, somehow the news of important events ~the rites of passage, the benchmarks~ always circulates.
