BJS> Hi there

[Clifford] BJS, hi

[owoodson] Do you mean from other counties? Hi, BJ.

BJS> I see I got here on time for a change

[Clifford] I guess the weather has played a problem tonight

[owoodson] Yes, and we are off to a slower start tonight.

BJS> Is the weather bad where you are?

[Clifford] owoodson, is there any information on the Simpkins family?

[Clifford] BJS, it was earlier.

[owoodson] Some in Monroe County. Will record of Bethel's first wife's - father and some marriage records. We had a thunderstorm earlier, but very - little rain with it.

[Clifford] owoodson, I am interested in this family since, I have very - little information on them.

[owoodson] I said will record, but I think he died intestate and it is the - probate records.

[owoodson] They settled in the Old Texas area fairly early.

[Clifford] owoodson, I guess that I will have to order the will from off a - micro-film

[owoodson] Do you ever research in Monroe County?

[Clifford] Yes, I do have several books at the library on the marriage - records, but I will have to order the rest at the LDS Church

[owoodson] To get back to your question about the Heritage Books, were - asking if the Library bought any of the Heritage Books, did you mean those - on other counties?

[Clifford] yes

[owoodson] By Wilcox County doing a book, we are getting a complete set.

[owoodson] There are a number of the counties-those completed- at the - Library now.

[Clifford] good, I was wondering how a society got their books. I have seen - a few books at our library, but the Butler Co., Historical Society in - Greenville, Alabama had quite a few in January 2000.

[ShirleyAK] Clifford, it's a deal

[Clifford] ShirleyAK, are those morgan's the ones that go to texas.

[ShirleyAK] No, my Morgans stayed in Wilcox Co., Joseph's brother George and - family went to Texas, I believe

[Clifford] Shirley, I think that I have information on this line. I will - have to get my database from home.

[Clifford] owoodson, were you able to check the library folder on Jenkins.

[ShirleyAK] Clifford, I'll send you the details of my particular family line - in the e-mail I send you.

[BooMack] Good evening everyone!

[owoodson] ShirleyAK, is the Joseph Morgan who voted in 1860 in Patville - Beat yours?

[owoodson] Hello, BooMack

[BooMack] Could anyone tell me how many miles is Snowhill from Camden and - what direction?

[ShirleyAK] owoodson, that might be Joseph, Jr. Joseph, Sr. died in 1857.

[owoodson] It is about 20 miles east of Camden to Snow Hill.

[owoodson] Were they in the Sunny South vicinity, that is where Patville - Beat was, as best I can tell.

[BooMack] Hi Cliff!

[ShirleyAK] owwodson, sorry I tried to find out who was in Sunny South, but - I can't find the book. I grew up in Alaska, so I know very little about - Wilcox Co. I did visit about a year ago. Beautiful country.

[owoodson] BooMack, I know the book is out of print. You might try - Bibliofind.com or one of the other used book sites. Miss Brantley is - deceased and I am sure there will not be another printing.

[owoodson] BooMack, was there something in particular you want from the - book--I have a copy.

[BooMack] I checked three bookfinders with no luck. I called the publishing - company and they are no longer in business. Was Ms. Brantley a resident of - Wilcox County ? Do you know what year she died? Does she have any - descendants or relatives in Wilcox County?

[omstar99] I noted in the reference to The History of Pineapple, the book - Seale and Allied Families. Do you know if a copy might be in the county - library.

[owoodson] I think some of the MOrgans were in the Sunny South area. I am - going to have to go back to my notes and information on families on the west - side of the river and refresh my memory.

>> Leeu has joined channel #XC.2115614

[BooMack] Yes, Owoodson, I want to copy a few pages to cite in my research. - I saw the book at the Clayton in Houston. If I could find it in any public - library, I would do an inter-library loan.

[owoodson] BooMack, Miss Brantley was from Conecuh and Monroe Counties. She - died in the 1980s, don't remember the exact date. She might have relatives, - but more than likely more in Monroe or Conecuh than Wilcox. I knew her and - sold her books at my newspaper office at the time she published it.

[BooMack] Hi Leeu!

[Leeu] Hello

[owoodson] omstarr99, I am not sure if the book you are interested in is in - the Library. I can check for you, if you will send me an email later, so - that I will be sure that I remember to do so.

[owoodson] I don't think the copy in our library is for circulation. I can - check on that for you. Or if you just need a few pages, email me with the - pages you need and I will get copies and send to you, BooMack

[omstar99] Thanks, Ouida. We will be in Wilcox and Butler counties the last - week of this month. Looking forword to a week of genealogy and enjoying the - area. Is the Cotton Boll still open?

[Leeu] I'm looking for HARVEY CRAIN who was born in Wilcox 12 Sep 1835

[owoodson] Yes, the Cotton Boll is still open.

[BooMack] Thanks Owoodson. What is your email address?

[owoodson] Hello, Leeu

[Ethelsue] Is there a place to stay in Camden, if I came there for research?

[owoodson] cb75, I believe that I remember that you were interested in - Ervins also.

>> Ethelsue has left channel #XC.2115614

[cb75] Yes, just found some records of them in Monroe and Clarke Co

[Leeu] does anyone have Wilcox census begore 1850?

[owoodson] Then his naturalization could be recorded in a Probate book. - Also, there is probably a loose record about it in one of the bins.

[owoodson] Is this the family of Robert Hugh Ervin?

[cb75] I looke in many bins when there a couple of years ago -no lluck

[cb75] I can't find a link to Robt. tho one Jame in both families.

[owoodson] The loose records are all mixed up. The project to go through - them and get them ready for microfilming will be underway soon. The records - from the old jail are going to be done first I think.

>> ShirleyAK has left channel #XC.2115614

[cb75] I have a scanner but not the camera yet.

[owoodson] That was my first time of taking a picture of a portrait , but it - turned out better than I thought it would.

[cb75] I have tried with an ordinary 35 mm camera and results not too good.

[owoodson] Several years ago when I was working on the history of our - church, I used a 35mm on a tripod and took pictures from books of some of - our ministers. It worked satisfactorily.

[cb75] Will say bye, and will get my Sapping Starr records to you later

[owoodson] I think it would be Foxes Mill. I emailed Virginia this morning - after I read her query.

BJS> Oh good. I was asking for her.

[owoodson] I thought so, her Poindexter Stuckey voted in Foxes Mill in 1860.

BJS> I have to find a better way to log these chats Ouida. I can't - particiipate while I'm cutting and Pasting and trying to guard against being - dropped.

[owoodson] I see J.N. Bloxom on the 1860 voter's list for Kyser's Beat--Pine - Apple area.

[Shelley] Yes - that is him. His father was Washington Bloxom (my brick - wall)

[owoodson] There are two other Bloxoms--A. and L. on the 1860's voterslist.

[Shelley] A should be Albert, don't know about L.

[owoodson] I missed a William who is also there.

[Shelley] L should be Leslie another brother

[Shelley] Jasper and Albert went to Brazil after Civil War.

[owoodson] That is interesting. Did they stay in Brazil?

[Shelley] No, returned about 1871. Jasper to Texas and Albert to LA.
